Artificial Intelligence Use Policy

This policy explains when and how we use artificial intelligence tools in our work. We believe in transparency about our methods and tools.

Our Approach

AI is a tool we use to work more efficiently, not a replacement for human expertise. Every deliverable is reviewed, edited, and approved by experienced professionals before it reaches clients.

We’ve been building websites and digital marketing campaigns since 2000. AI helps us work faster on certain tasks so we can focus more time on strategy, custom development, and solving complex problems.

When We Use AI

Content Development

  • First drafts of blog posts, web copy, and marketing content
  • SEO keyword research and content gap analysis
  • Meta descriptions and title tag variations for testing
  • Content outline generation

Development Work

  • Code scaffolding and boilerplate generation
  • Documentation drafting
  • Debugging assistance and error analysis
  • Research on technical implementation approaches

Research & Analysis

  • Competitive analysis and market research synthesis
  • Analytics data pattern identification
  • User behavior analysis across large datasets
  • Industry trend research

Design & Creative

  • Wireframe iteration and layout exploration
  • Accessibility compliance checking (WCAG)
  • Design system documentation
  • Image generation for mockups and concepts

Project Management

  • Meeting notes summarization
  • Project documentation
  • Proposal drafting
  • Research synthesis

When We DON’T Use AI

Never used for:

  • Final client deliverables without human review and editing
  • Security-critical code (authentication, payment processing, PII handling)
  • Legal advice or compliance decisions
  • Medical or health-related content
  • Financial advice
  • Technical architecture decisions
  • Custom business logic requiring domain expertise
  • Final creative direction or brand strategy

Always human-led:

  • Strategic planning and recommendations
  • Custom integrations with proprietary systems
  • Complex database architecture
  • User experience decisions
  • Brand voice and messaging
  • Client communication
  • Quality assurance and testing

AI Tools We Use

We use enterprise-grade AI tools selected for capability, data security, and proven production results. Our toolset evolves as technology improves. What matters more than specific tools is our review process—every AI-assisted deliverable goes through the same quality standards as traditionally-produced work.

Human Oversight

Every AI-generated output goes through:

  1. Review by the team member who generated it
  2. Editing for accuracy, brand voice, and quality
  3. Testing (for code) or fact-checking (for content)
  4. Senior team approval before client delivery

Our standards don’t change based on tools used. AI-assisted work meets the same quality requirements as work created entirely by humans.

Client Data Protection

How we protect your information:

  • Enterprise AI tools with data processing agreements for client work
  • No client proprietary data, trade secrets, or competitive intelligence used to train AI models
  • Sensitive data (PII, financial information, health data) excluded from AI tool use
  • Clear protocols about what can and cannot be processed with AI tools
  • All standard security and confidentiality agreements remain in effect

Your data is never:

  • Used to train public AI models
  • Shared with AI vendors beyond processing your specific request
  • Stored longer than necessary for the work performed

Client Preferences

You have control:

  • We disclose AI use in project proposals and statements of work
  • You can request work be done without AI assistance on specific projects
  • We accommodate preferences about which AI tools can or cannot be used
  • We’re transparent about where AI was used if you ask

Disclosure Practices

We proactively disclose:

  • AI use in proposals when it’s a significant part of project approach
  • Specific AI tools when they materially affect deliverables
  • Changes to our AI practices that impact ongoing work

We don’t disclose:

  • Every minor AI-assisted task (research, spell-checking, code formatting)
  • Internal-only AI use that doesn’t affect client deliverables
  • Routine productivity tools used across all projects

Think of this like contractors disclosing power tools for major work but not mentioning every screwdriver used.

Quality Guarantee

AI accelerates certain tasks but doesn’t change our quality standards:

  • All code is reviewed by senior developers
  • All content is edited for brand voice and accuracy
  • All designs are refined by experienced designers
  • All strategy is developed by marketing professionals
  • All deliverables are tested and approved before delivery

You get the efficiency benefits of AI with zero compromise on quality, security, or compliance.

Limitations We Acknowledge

AI is not perfect:

  • Can produce factually incorrect information (we fact-check)
  • May reflect biases in training data (we review critically)
  • Lacks business context and industry knowledge (we provide this)
  • Can’t replace human judgment on complex decisions (we make these)
  • Doesn’t understand your brand like we do (we ensure alignment)

This is why human expertise remains essential at every stage.

How This Policy Evolves

AI capabilities change rapidly. We update this policy when:

  • We adopt new AI tools in production work
  • Significant changes occur in how we use AI
  • Client feedback indicates our disclosure needs improvement
  • Industry best practices evolve

Questions About Our AI Use

Can I see what AI tools you used on my project?

Yes. We’re transparent about tools and happy to discuss specific AI use in your work.

What if I don’t want AI used on my project?

We can accommodate that preference. Some projects work better with traditional approaches, and we’re flexible based on your requirements.

How do you decide when to use AI vs. traditional methods?

We evaluate each task based on: complexity, security requirements, need for customization, timeline, and whether AI provides genuine value. Strategic and custom work is always human-led.

Does AI-generated content hurt SEO?

Google has stated that quality content matters regardless of how it’s produced. Our approach: AI accelerates production, humans ensure quality. We’ve seen no negative SEO impact.

Who owns AI-generated work?

You do. All deliverables are 100% yours with no licensing complications, regardless of tools used in creation.

How do you stay current with AI capabilities?

Our team continuously evaluates new tools, tests capabilities in real scenarios, and focuses on business outcomes rather than technology hype. You benefit from our ongoing learning.
